Sex & the Coronavirus
COVID-19 is shaping the lives of all of us. Government guidance in the UK and all around the world is asking us to stay away from other people. This has an impact on hooking up, which is discouraged, and the sex we might be having.
Hook-ups are being discouraged because many health services are unable to offer us their usual services because they are overwhelmed with dealing with COVID-19.
Unfortunately, we are seeing COVID-19 disproportionately impacting the Black and Asian communities we are a part of and there are a variety of reasons for this. Whilst queer men of colour are not necessarily at more risk than other groups, some members of our wider communities are.
PrEPster is committed to ensuring queer men of colour like us have the right information to make informed decisions about their health and the sex they have. We want to make sure that we all have up-to-date and relevant information to reduce the risk to ourselves or passing COVID-19 on to regular and casual sex partners, friends, family or even housemates. During these uncertain times this is now more important than ever.
We’ve worked with our buddies at Heads or Tails in New York City to adapt their Sex and Coronavirus comic strip series for queer men of colour in the UK.
